Finish: Short. Fresh baked bread, nutmeg, sandalwood, cornflakes, hints of nutmeg.

Comments:

Cask 12150. Quite citrusy and weighty, lots of layered flavours with a good degree of intensity. Water brings out a dry paperiness and more lemon curd, as well as stone fruit. A good dram, a fine example of young whisky.

I like this a lot.

Holyrood Single Cask #58

Holyrood Single Cask #58

Official bottling
Single malt - Lowlands
Bronze gold
62% ABV
Dram

Nose: Apple juice, butterscotch, roast chicken, dunnage, white pepper, hints of tyre rubber. With water, apple juice, salt caramel, roast chicken, peat.
Mouthfeel: Heavy body, tingly, hot, mouth coating.

Finish: Short. Tyre rubber, autumn leaves, malted grains, butterscotch.

Comments:

Lots of apple and some meaty roast chicken notes, but that’s offset with a sulphurous edge. Some water smooths this out, and brings out notes of salt caramel. Impressive dram, given the youth of the distillery.

Verdict:

I like this.
