Very estery, lots of pear drop and magic marker notes. The acetone soon morphs into gooseberries and sandalwood. Water brings out some cereal and even some farmyard notes.

Nose: Leather, pears, cucumber, butter, honey, hints of sea salt, hints of smoke. With water, white pepper, lemon zest, fresh cut grass, white grapes.
Mouthfeel: Heavy body, hot, astringent, spirity.
Tasting: Sour sweet. Gooseberries, white grapes, greengages, sea salt, soy sauce, leather, hints of smoke With water, allspice, white pepper, white grapes, fresh cut grass.
Finish: Long. Cucumber, greengages, ginger, cinnamon, sea salt.
Comments:
Finally cracked this bottle open, it's been sitting in my cupboard for a good decade or so. It probably wasn't a magnificent whisky when it was bottled, but time plus rarity value has really made a difference. It's fresh and fruity, quite light, plenty of green and white stone fruit. There's also a lot of old bottle effect, leathery, savoury rancio that covers quite a spicy finish.
Verdict:
I like this a lot.

Nose: Cream, musk, ink, orange peel, honey, hints of grapefruit.
Mouthfeel: Light body, loose, watery, airy.
Tasting: Bitter sweet. Cream, leather, malted grains, orange peel, green apples, hints of grapefruit.
Finish: Short. Orange peel, grapefruit, green apples, malted grains, hints of sea salt.
Comments:
I've had the sister bottling to this - 1980/2007. This one has improved slightly with age, more of the Glen Mhor green apple, with a fair amount of bitter pithy grapefruit. Excellent fruity, slightly bitter whisky.
Verdict:
I like this.

Nose: Leather, sea salt, lemons, green apples, butter, vanilla, apricots, hints of peat, hints of mint.
Mouthfeel: Light body, slippery, mouth coating, smooth.
Tasting: Salty sour. Green apples, lemons, vanilla, leather, sea salt, apricots, gooseberries, white grapes, hints of peat.
Finish: Medium. Brine, peat, lemons, gooseberries.
Comments:
Quite salty and tart, very few sweet notes. However, there is a lot of fruit in this whisky, and it's very fragrant indeed. The flavours go so well together and are well-integrated, merged, together. Tasty stuff.

Nose: Raisins, peat, peaches, oranges, apples, passionfruit, chocolate, hints of limes.
Mouthfeel: Light body, cool, astringent.
Tasting: Sweet sour. Peaches, passionfruit, apples, limes, bread, hints of oats.
Finish: Long. Oats, oranges, coffee, chocolate.
Comments:
Rounded and sweet, mouth-filling, exactly like a good, red Merlot wine. There is a cereally bite on the tongue that gives the whisky extra body. The finish tops it all - fragrant, slightly bitter, with waves of chocolate and coffee. Excellent whisky.
Verdict:
