Fruitful Spirits 21yo Blended Whisky

Fruitful Spirits 21yo Blended Whisky

Fruitful Spirits
Blended malt
Amber bronze
45.4% ABV
Dram

Nose: Cream, brown paper, green tea, vanilla, desiccated coconut, shortcrust pastry.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, loosens, tingly, expands.
Tasting:  Sweet salty. Brown paper, desiccated coconut, green tea, sea salt, nutmeg, strawberry jam, sourdough bread.
Finish: Medium. Toast, malted grains, sourdough bread, shortcrust pastry.

Comments:

Decent blend, toasty and malty but with a very obvious grain component. There’s a bourbon-like brown paper note, with jam and spice accompanying it.

Verdict:

I like this.

Bonnington First Release 2020/2023

Bonnington First Release 2020/2023

Fruitful Spirits
Single malt - Lowlands
Amber
64.8% ABV
Dram

Nose: Peat, smoke, leather, sandalwood, driftwood smoke, autumn leaves, honey. With water, sea salt, autumn leaves, sandalwood, smoke.
Mouthfeel: Heavy body, loosens, hot, astringent.
Tasting:  Salty bitter. Smoke, new plastic, autumn leaves, honey, black tea, ginseng, petrichor. With water, new plastic, black tea, petrichor.
Finish: Medium. New plastic, sandalwood, petrichor, nutmeg, sea salt.

Comments:

Quite peaty and smoky, lots of earthy notes underlying that peat. There’s some tannic notes, and a little honey that provides some relief. The one problem I have with this dram is that it turns a little plasticky.

Verdict:

I like this.

North British 30yo 1992/2022

North British 30yo 1992/2022

Fruitful Spirits
Single grain - Lowlands
Bright gold
42.9% ABV
Dram

Nose: Pear drops, raisins, orange peel, peaches, photocopy paper, oatmeal, balsamic vinegar.
Mouthfeel: Light body, cool, tingly, loosens.
Tasting:  Sweet. Desiccated coconut, oatmeal, orange peel, pear drops, kiwifruit, hints of lemon zest.
Finish: Short. Oatmeal, vanilla, peaches, lemon zest.

Comments:

Barrel 67633. Estery stuff, this - lots of fruity, lightly sweet notes, with some cereally complexity behind it. It’s still bright and light, even after 30 years.

Verdict:

I like this a lot.
