Mouthfeel: Light body, loosens, volatile, hot.
Tasting: Sour. Lemon zest, cream, acetone, pear drops, white grapes, white pepper, grapefruit. With water, magic marker, grapefruit, white grapes.
Finish: Short. Lemon zest, white pepper, gooseberries, magic marker.
Comments:
Cask 791399. Fruity and estery, definitely a bit of a nail varnish vibe. Water brings out more esters, as well as bitter citrus. Quite a robust whisky, with well integrated flavours.
Verdict:
I like this.

Cask 14510. Very gentle smokiness, overlaying some white fruit, mostly starfruit and peaches. Turns bitter on the tongue, feels very close to the whisky. A delicious dram

Finish: Long. Pencil lead, leather, white grapes, honey, hints of gunpowder.
Comments:
Sweet and sherried, but with an odd tang of coconut, a flavour I associate more with grain whisky. There’s heaps of dried fruit, and water opens that up even more, as notes of pomegranate molasses begin to appear.

Comments:
Very complex and layered, big hits of honey and tropical fruit, with a long minerally finish. A really excellent whisky that showcases the power of wood aging in a low temperature environment.

I like this a lot.

Finish: Short. Chocolate, coconut cream, gooseberries, white pepper.
Comments:
Feinty and sweet, with tangy side notes of gooseberries and sour peaches. It’s a little flat on the finish, but that’s after a lot of fireworks going on in the mouth. A very, very nice dram.

Very, very coconutty, lots of savoury and feinty notes underneath that layer. It’s got some spice and fruity notes, and a little chalk, but the coconut is predominant. Excellent dram.

Finish: Short. White pepper, white grapes, lemon sweets, papayas.
Comments:
Casks 6528 and 6582. Fruity, lots of sweet notes, yet not very sweet. There’s a slight earthiness, even savouriness here, that seems to come from the age. Initially quite meaty, but this faded with time, and water.

Finish: Medium. Cough syrup, green tea, apricots, blackcurrant cordial, celery salt.
Comments:
Again, a dram very like cough syrup, but this time it’s more herbal and fragrant. There’s some old bottle effect, which is quite surprising for something bottled in 2019.
Verdict:
I like this a lot.

Comments:

Comments:
Utterly delicious whisky, hugely floral and fruity, but with a veneer of age - layers of herbal complexity and depth of flavour. One of the best ‘Burgies I’ve ever had.

Tasting: Sweet. Honey, cloves, candied oranges, strawberry jam, sour cream, ginger, black pepper, hints of black tea. With water, honey, leather, strawberry jam, sea salt, hints of cloves.
Finish: Medium. Candied oranges, strawberry jam, raisins, hints of lemon zest.
Comments:
Sweet and fruity, but with a lot of spicy notes to supplement. It’s quite delicious, well aged with clearly delineated flavours. There’s an undertone of sea salt that really makes this whisky mouth watering.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, thickens, hot, expands.
Tasting: Sweet. Honey, cloves, candied oranges, strawberry jam, sour cream, ginger, black pepper, hints of black tea. With water, honey, leather, strawberry jam, sea salt, hints of cloves.
Finish: Medium. Candied oranges, strawberry jam, raisins, hints of lemon zest.
Comments:
Sweet and fruity, but with a lot of spicy notes to supplement. It’s quite delicious, well aged with clearly delineated flavours. There’s an undertone of sea salt that really makes this whisky mouth watering.
Verdict:
I like this a lot.

Nose: Candle wax, cep mushrooms, white grapes, lemon zest, gooseberries, hints of apricot jam.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, thickens, mouth coating, slightly oily.
Tasting: Sweet. Malted grains, white grapes, honey, gooseberries, fresh cut grass, lemon zest, yuzu, hints of candle wax.
Finish: Medium. Lemon zest, white grapes, cep mushrooms, gooseberries.
Comments:
Earthy and fruity, this Glenburgie shows its age quite well. Lots of complexity, even some jammy notes alongside the citrus. Pleasantly waxy too. Top stuff, excellent bottling.
Verdict:
I like this a lot.

Nose: Oranges, stroopwafel, chocolate, butterscotch, camphor.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, thickens, cool, slippery.
Tasting: Sweet. Oranges, chocolate, red grapes, vanilla, raisins, butterscotch, hints of walnuts.
Finish: Short. Vanilla sponge, red grapes, burnt sugar, fresh baked bread.
Comments:
This is a lovely young Glenburgie, bright, fruity and sweet. Lots of alluring dessert notes, and a slightly bitter hint of burnt sugar at the end, like the top on a creme brulee. Very refreshing, and a great starter dram.
Verdict:
I like this a lot.

Nose: Tinned peaches, lemons, sourdough, green apples, violets, hints of liquorice. With water, yeast, sourdough, hints of pomegranates.
Mouthfeel: Heavy body, syrupy, hot, oily.
Tasting: Sour. Lemons, mango chutney, green apples, tinned peaches, hints of pomegranate molasses. With water, slightly salty, yeast, sourdough, lemon drizzle cake.
Finish: Short. Green apples, pomegranate molasses, lemons, hints of sourdough.
Comments:
A floral, yeasty Speyside whisky, quite tart with some fruity notes. It takes water very well, opening up to soft sponge cake and pomegranates. Quite delicious - with water.

I like this.

Nose: Papaya, gooseberries, autumn leaves, brass polish, hints of raspberries
Mouthfeel: Light body, mouth coating, watery, loosens.
Tasting: Bitter sour. Gooseberries, chocolate, brass polish, hints of roast beef.
Finish: Long. Chocolate, corn on the cob, coffee, autumn leaves.
Comments:
My first thoughts were, "ok, I have a lot to learn about whisky". This was confusing, to say the least - clean, fruity flavours were surrounded by earthy, even slightly metallic notes. The finish was the best bit, bittersweet, cereally, and earthy.
Verdict:
I like this.
