Oily, peaty, chemical whisky, and I love it. It’s got an underlying sweetness, and water opens it up, turning it earthy and fruity. Really good young whisky.

Verdict:

I like this a lot.

Lagg 3yo 2019/2022 Inaugural Release Bourbon Cask

Lagg 3yo 2019/2022 Inaugural Release Bourbon Cask

Official bottling
Single malt - Islands
Pale green gold
50% ABV
Dram

Nose: Leather, peat, driftwood smoke, honey, camphor, fresh cut grass, autumn leaves.
Mouthfeel: Light body, loosens, cool, slightly oily.
Tasting:  Bitter salty. Honey, driftwood smoke, leather, green apples, autumn leaves, lemon zest, sea salt.
Finish: Medium. Green apples, lemon zest, honey, camphor.

Comments:

Interesting stuff from the new distillery on Arran. Lots of savoury smoke, a little like Lagavulin. There’s also some earthy leaves underneath that, like an autumn bonfire. A little harsh, but promising.

Verdict:

I like this.
