Nose: Toffee, honey, lemon sweets, sea salt, mint, crispy bacon, hints of leather. With water, leather, honey, lemon sweets, vanilla.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, warm, tingly, loosens.
Tasting: Bitter sweet. Honey, lemon sweets, vanilla, sea salt, leather, candied oranges, hints of smoke. With water, sweeter, mint, candied oranges, hints of smoke.
Finish: Medium. Sea salt, candied oranges, lemon sweets, hints of smoke.
Comments:
Right, this is a very Brora-like Clynelish, a little bit savoury, some slight meatiness in the nose, and a lot of citrus. It’s wreathed in gentle peat, and is well aged. It’s perhaps a teensy bit sweeter than ideal, but I’m beginning to nitpick here.
Verdict:
I like this a lot.
