Dram
Nose: Green apples, smoke, peat, lemon zest, leather, hints of cinnamon.
Mouthfeel: Heavy body, oily, tingly, mouth coating.
Tasting: Sour bitter. Golden syrup, peat, driftwood smoke, green apples, cinnamon, vanilla, hints of leather.
Finish: Medium. Green apples, driftwood smoke, cinnamon, leather.
Comments:
I tasted the original version, meant to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the distillery, and liked it very much. This version is part of the core range. It’s got the same fruity notes, together with some spices, that is then overlaid by the briny, salty Lagavulin smoke. But it’s a little bit more tart.
Verdict:
I like this a lot.
