Balcones Baby Blue Corn Whisky

Single corn - Texas
Green gold

Dram
Nose: Cardboard, cream, bananas, tobacco leaf, leather, hints of old books.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, loosens, turns watery.
Tasting: Bitter sweet. Tobacco leaf, cream, bananas, leather, pears, hints of chocolate .
Finish: Short. Pears, lemon sweets, leather.
Comments:
My first corn whisky, and I don't really know what to make of it. It starts out leathery and musty, like being in an old library. Underneath that layer, there's a great deal of fruit and sweetness, a bit like a bourbon. Quite good.
Verdict:
I like this.

Nose: Oranges, honey, chocolate, white grapes, hints of peanuts.
Mouthfeel: Light body, loose, watery.
Tasting: Sweet sour . Oranges, chocolate, honey, peanuts, hints of lemon zest, hints of grapefruit.
Finish: Short. Bitter, grapefruit, orange rind, honey.
Comments:
Light and uncomplicated. Sweet, orangey notes with a interesting bitter finish. A little disappointing perhaps, I'd expected some more complexity from its time in the cask.
Verdict:
Not bad.

Nose: Apples, lemons, cola nuts, golden syrup, hints of cloves, hints of cinnamon.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, thickens, spicy, tingly.
Tasting: Sweet. Cola nuts, apples, lemons, toast, scotch bonnets, cloves, cinnamon.
Finish: Long. Scotch bonnets, cola nuts, cinnamon.
Comments:
For some odd reason, this whisky appears to have spent 8 years in the bottle before being released by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. It's as fruity as a fruity fruitcake, and has lovely cola nut notes, very unusual in my experience. Delicious grain whisky.
